This is illustrator Mark Stehrenberger’s rendering of the Cadillac ATS. If you recall, General Motors invited the press to its design studios to have a look at the near future of the company’s product portfolio. Among the many vehicles was a pair of new Cadillacs – an XTS and an ATS — to fill out the lineup.
However, sources say that the pair will be publicly shown only in 2010. This is why Motor Trend got Stehrenberger to create this rendering. In our opinion, the rendering is quite different from the actual car. Basing on the front, the rendering actually looks a lot more like the XLR roadster than the ATS. The styling buck had a taller nose in keeping with modern pedestrian safety standards. Also, the grille of the ATS is of the same style as seen on the current CTS and SRX as opposed the egg-crate pattern shown on the illustration. The headlights are just about right; they stretched well back along the top edge of the fender on the production-intent model.
