Solid, superbly engineered, finely crafted. Those words come to mind when I spot a Mercedes-Benz on the street.
But diesel powered? Those are words you might associate with a Ford F250.
Yet diesel power is a long-term investment that Mercedes has laid claim to in Europe for decades. But does the image fit the product available here in the United States?
When the Mercedes E-class sedans were redesigned a few years ago, company stylists gave these mainstay luxury vehicles a personality infusion. The attractive headlights, aggressive rake and modern, streamlined grille provided a facelift to the traditional boxy styling.
