I was just reading a report somewhere on the net that sales of small crossovers ain't so great, except for the perennial star of this segment, the Lexus RX.

Over the past 5-10 years the competition has thrown everything, INCLUDING the kitchen sink at this sales all-star but they come up empty.

They try to find it's flaws and expose them...they spew stuff like- it's not a true off-road suv, it doesn't handle as well as a BMW, it's too expensive, not as pretty as some others, and the most famous shot, a commercial saying if you buy it you're not unique and like everyone else by Audi and the Q5.

It's an automotive advertising equivalent of a nuclear war.

But they got NOTHIN'!

NOTHING they've done has ever done ANY true damage.

If I were the others, I'd be pulling out the rest of the hair I have on my head out in frustration.

We just returned our long term LX570 and took delivery of our 2010 review RX, so we're looking forward to examining this phenomenon further.

From our short visit with the vehicle so far, if the competitors thought Lexus was going to make it a little easier for them to catch up, they'd be WAY wrong.

This thing is one impressive and refined ride, better in EVERY way than the last generation SUV.

So the question is- What IS it about this SUV that is SO good and what does Lexus do that is SO right that no one, no matter what they do or how much they spend can make any traction against it?

By the way, if an AutoSpies.com comes up with the right answer, whatever manufacturer that uses the advice that works, owes them A LOT of money! LOLOL!

Who can figure out probably the hardest puzzle in the automotive business?
