It has become more likely that Volkswagen will be able to extend job guarantees until 2014 for 90,000 workers in its high-wage western German plants, according to a Reuters report. In an interview with Personnel Director Horst Neumann, VW is confirmed to have an aim to “secure employment in the long term.” VW holds its traditional planning session this month where its supervisory board will discuss its strategy and set a rolling budget for the upcoming years.
Neumann said that also up for discussion is the number of investments that reach beyond 2011. This means that the meeting will ultimately be making plenty of decisions about job security.
