As Ford Motor Co. proceeds to develop hybrid and electric vehicles and batteries, it is considering investing $300 million to $500 million in Michigan assembly plants, according to Ford executives. Spokeswoman Jennifer Moore divulged that the investment hinges on Michigan’s willingness to grant Ford millions in tax credits.

Ford intends to assemble lithium ion battery packs in-house at an undesignated plant in Michigan.
