Well, so much for the press embargo and waiver we all signed.
Since a loose-lipped attendee could not keep their mouth shut, it has hit the interweb that Ford is resurrecting the beloved 5.0 Mustang. I can confirm this as I attended the Detroit event today and believe me, there is more than what is being reported. So, if you are a Mustang fan, you're in for a very good 2011.
We proudly give Ford a standing ovation for such a bold move but I have to ask:
What took so long?
Because I am not looking to get sued, I will tread lightly as are the other publications.
The new 5.0L unit will be pumping out 412-horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque.
Woof! Having driven all three of Detroit's latest muscle, the 2010 GT 'Stang is already a handful. Giving a substantial 100 + horsepower increase will certainly up the ante against the competition; however, it still has not sold as strongly as the Camaro.
Regardless, we at AutoSpies are very excited to drive the 2011 when it makes its official debut.
