Ford is having a hell of a week. With the debut of their 2012 Ford Focus, to generally positive feedback from the automotive world, and with a win under their belt -- not once but twice -- things cannot get much better than that.

Mind you, these weren't local or regional awards for something like "the town's 'wet down,'" where everyone is a little bit stranger than normal.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid swooped in and nabbed the North American Car of the Year and the Ford Transit Connect grabbed the North American Truck of the Year.

The New York Times Reports:

DETROIT — The Ford Motor Company’s strong showing in 2009 was reaffirmed Monday with a sweep of the North American Car of the Year and North American Truck of the Year Awards.

The awards are given by a jury of automotive journalists from the United States and Canada, and announced here each year at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.

The car award went to the Ford Fusion Hybrid, marking the fourth time a gasoline-electric hybrid car has won in the 17 years the awards have been in existence. Ford’s Escape Hybrid sport utility vehicle won the award in 2005....
