There’s a possibility that Chrysler Group will build a new assembly plant in North America to make Fiat-based models. At the Detroit Auto Show, Scott Garberding, senior vice president for manufacturing, revealed that this is only one of the options that they’re looking into.

A number of locations are being studied but Garberding declined to identify them; he also won’t say when the decision will be made. It could also be that some of the Fiat-based models will be made in its existing factories. Chrysler plans to sell some vehicles based on Fiat platforms in North America.
