In a recent interview with Automotive News, Michael Dick, Audi’s board member for technical development, said that the German manufacturer is planning a rapid expansion of its plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles over the next few years as a key component in Volkswagen Group’s strategy to dominate the alternative-powertrain by decade’s end.

According to Michael Dick, the next-generation A5 sedan will also have the potential to be full hybrid by the end of 2012, which means that the vehicle will join the recently introduced A8 Hybrid Sedan at the Geneva Motor Show as well as the soon-to-be-launched Q5 hybrid crossover.
