The launch of Aston Martin’s Cygnet city car is expected to increase sales by more than 30% over the past year. In 2009, the carmaker sold only 4000 units as its sales were affected by the global recession.

In 2008, 5800 were sold. Aston CEO Ulrich Bez forecasts that 2010’s sales would exceed 2008’s with more than 6000 units sold. Bez believes that the launch of the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet and the four-door Rapide saloon will boost Aston’s sales. However, Booze doesn’t expect 2010 to be a vintage year for luxury car sales.
