SURVEY: Poll Concludes The Top 10 Driving Distractions

Without question, one of the biggest distractions while behind the wheel is the telephone. It always seems to ensure that your full attention is not where it needs to be; on the road.

Thanks to our friends across the pond, who conducted a survey, it becomes even further proved that driving and texting increases danger exponentially.

So, if you want to stay out of trouble, get off the tele Spies!

Probably the most entertaining result from the survey is that men are twice as likely as women to let their attention wander when they spot someone they are attracted to. Oh, jeez...

The mobile menace continues to threaten! Despite being banned more than six years ago, a survey of over 3,000 motorists by Autoglass has discovered that texting whilst driving is the biggest distraction for drivers.

More than half of respondents (51%) stated that sending an SMS was the number one diversion, followed by talking on a phone, which attracted 40 per cent of the vote.

Surprisingly, the worst offenders are in the over-55 age group – traditionally seen as safer drivers. The result calls into question whether the potential £60 fine and three point penalty is harsh enough, given the obvious distraction it causes.
