Production of a long wheelbase version of the BMW 3-series will soon begin in China. The stretched BMW 3-series, which is set to rival the very popular Audi A4L, will be built at a new factory in the Shengyang economic zone in a joint effort with BMW’s Chinese partner Brilliance.

Qi Yu Min, the chairman of Brilliance Auto, said that the new factory will be built by 2012. It will have the capacity to produce100,000 units a year, and it will also be the site of a production line for the X1.
