The 300SL lives on through the SLS AMG. First, it was the "Gullwing," next comes the Roadster.

Said to go on sale in early 2011, the convertible is obviously going to axe the infamous "Gullwing" doors. Uh, duh.

Performance is expected to be on par with the coupe. With upwards of 560-570-horsepower, the Roadster will probably do zero to 60 in 3.8 seconds and be armed with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

I hereby give this two solid thumbs up...


Mercedes' SLS supercar has blown its top! These are the best pictures yet of the SLS Roadster, which will be hoping to continue the success of its hard-top brother. 

The open topped two-seater goes on sale in early 2011, and will be officially unveiled later this year.

As you can see from these pictures, the convertible version keeps the coupe’s long bonnet and short tail. Unfortunately, the gullwing doors will have to make way for more traditional units...
