According to a July 12 letter sent by Toyota Motor Corp. to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it will fix about 600,000 Sienna minivans recalled over the risk of corrosion in a cable that holds the spare tire.
At no cost to owners, Toyota will remove and repair any corroded sections and will apply anti-rust agents to all cables in each of the vehicles. The recall announcement on April 16 states that it’s possible that the spare tires will fall off if the cable deteriorates.
