In what comes as not-so-surprising news, there is news circulating that Porsche is readying a hybrid version of its successful Panamera.

Well, that didn't take too long.

Now that the marque will be delivering hybrid sport-utility vehicles, in form of the 2011 Cayenne, any Porschephile who has been feeling guilty of polluting our air can feel a whole lot better given the bevy of hybrid options.

Even better, as confirmed just today, Porsche has said the 918 is no longer a figment of our imagination.

Additionally, with the announcement of electric Boxster prototypes, it seems that Porsche has gone zero to green in just about 3.3 seconds, or about as fast as the 997 Turbo. Talk about some serious turnaround.

So to say that a Panamera Hybrid is on the way just seems predictable.

A brand new Panamera Hybrid is heading our way. According to Zercustoms, the new 2012 Porsche Panamera Hybrid will feature the same engine as the Cayenne S Hybrid.

This means the vehicle will be powered by a 3.0 liter supercharged V6 engine developing 333hp and an electric motor with an additional 47 horsepower. The total output of the hybrid four door-saloon will be 380hp and 580Nm (427lb-ft) of torque just 1,000rpm. Depending on driving conditions, the vehicle uses only one drive unit operating by itself or with both drive units working together. The 34kW electric motor can jump in at lower speed to accompany the 333hp compressor engine...
