John Krafcik, Hyundai Motor America president, analyzed the Obama administration proposal that required automakers to deliver an average of 62 mpg by 2025. He said that the Korean manufacturer can do at least 50 mpg by that date and considered that these numbers are not as scary as they look.

Hyundai has already shown two new models that will deliver 40 mpg, the 2011 Sonata Hybrid and the 2011 Elantra, which was unveiled earlier today. "When we put it in those terms, it seems a heck of a lot more doable," Krafcik said.
