Automobilwoche, a sister publication of Automotive News Europe, says that Audi dealers and industry observers believe the A1 fails to attract customers since it costs too much for the group of young people that it is targeting. In response, Audi AG has come out to deny these insinuations.
In fact, an Audi spokesman said that the A1 is having “considerable success.” In addition, Audi stands by the estimate it made at the time of the A1's launch that around 50,000 units will be built by the end of 2010 and that 30,000 of them will be delivered to customers.
