The vehicle output of Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz unit for 2010 is at a record high, fueled by the demand for the E- and S-Class sedans. In a statement, Mercedes said that it plans to build 1.2 million cars and sport-utility vehicles in 2010, beating its previous record of 1.19 million set in 2008. BMW is the world's largest maker of luxury vehicles while Mercedes is in second place. In this statement, Wolfgang Bernhard, the boss of Mercedes operations, said that its production was at “high speed,” particularly in the second half.
