OnStar is putting its signature circle-and-star call button on store shelves, hoping to open the popular safety and security services to broader base of motorists — not just those who buy General Motors Co. cars and trucks.

The company will start making the technology available to buyers this spring at more than 1,100 stores nationwide, including big box retailer Best Buy.

The retail product will come packaged as an installable rearview mirror, selling for $299 each, and compatible with 20 top-selling vehicles, including the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford F-Series trucks.
