If you're in based out of Los Angeles and in the market for a luxury vehicle, we have an interesting bit of news -- some would say a shameless publicity stunt -- for you. Galpin Jaguar is giving $1,000 gift cards to consumers who test drive a new Jaguar and go with a competitor.
According to USA Today "'If a customer buys or leases an eligible comparably equipped Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Lexus or Porsche within 10 days after a new Jaguar test drive at Galpin, they will receive an American Express Gift Card valued at $1,000,' the dealer says."
Although it seems pretty convincing, the wording "an eligible comparably equipped..." sort of has me wondering: what is Galpin's definition of comparably equipped and which vehicles are eligible? Remember, you have to play by their rules.
Here's why I am so skeptical of what Galpin is doing: USA Today writes that no one has received a gift card thus far, even though it has been going on for a couple of weeks.
And I know that none of Jaguar's products are that good.
