Oh-kay, so as much as we would like every road to be paved with gold and smooth as a baby's bottom, it's just not possible. Probably because it would cost a fortune, not including the gold.
In addition, our roads would be under constant construction. Take, for example, the autobahn in Germany. Without question it is practically one of the world's eight wonders in the world with it's limitless potential for speeding; however, its extra thickness and smooth pavement comes at the price of constant maintenance.
So a good portion of the time the road is actually under construction.
Anyway, if you want to take a swing at finding the country's WORST road, I suggest you click "Read Article" and explore the Popular Mechanics' competition.
I am bummed! The road I was going to submit JUST got an overhaul this week!
The Popular Mechanics editors are trying to find—and test-drive—the worst road in the USA. So if you know of a truly appalling stretch of shoddy asphalt in your neck of the woods, take a few photos and send them to us at pmwebmaster@hearst.com. If your lousy road makes the final cut, PM will drive it in a test car equipped with sophisticated data-logging equipment to determine which road is really the worst in America...
