Considering that Rolls-Royce is going through a trial run with a fully-electric Phantom, I guess anything is possible. According to Mercedes-Benz's technical boss, Thomas Weber, the brand is giving an electric S-Class thought, provided the three-pointed star can make a business case for it.

In other words, if there's demand they'll build it.

Given that past rumors have mentioned Mercedes producing all of its flagship luxury sedans only in hybrid form -- for non-AMG variants -- I would wager that the sky's the limit for the next-generation fleet. Remember, with tightening regulations, automakers have to rid of gas guzzlers sooner rather than later.

A full electric version of the next Mercedes S-class is not being ruled out, according to the firm’s technical boss, Thomas Weber.
