How do you do it?
Buy a CNG vehicle (compressed natural gas)
On a state-by-state basis, you may be able to drive in the carpool lane with only one occupant in the vehicle. In California, you get carpool privileges and aren't required to pay tolls during rush hours. (You have just seen through my supposed tree-hugging altruism; I'm after the carpool incentive!) They also qualify as low emission vehicles, so some federal and state tax deductions may apply.
Looks like it's time to start liking Ford F-250's!
