Land Rover's latest product, the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, is a helluva looker. In fact, we think it's probably the brand's most exciting product since...well...ever.
Once known for only producing boxy, utilitarian sport-utility vehicles, we think that this new design direction is going to lead Land Rover into a brighter future. Having seen an Evoque on the streets pre release, I can confidently say it is a real stunner.
Apparently, we're not the only ones.
According to sources plucked by Carscoop, Land Rover's next range-topping Range Rover is set to take on slight changes that will cue more of the Evoque into the vehicle's design. With this first series of spy images, it's pretty damn hard to tell though since there is so much camo. Three areas I can notice some difference though are in the A-Pillar, D-Pillar and mirrors, which seem to have a different look than the usual stuff.
Otherwise, I think we're going to have to keep a close eye as this product develops and the car does a slow striptease.
In June, we showed you spy shots of a test mule wearing the current model's body panels over LR's new platform, but now, our scoop photographers nabbed an actual prototype of the 2013 Range Rover, complete with the new body.
If you pay close attention to the photos, you'll notice that the rear window hatch on this prototype is more heavily raked than on the current Range Rover. That said, we're not sure if Land Rover is going for a slightly more sportier look for the new Range Rover or if this is test car is actually a prototype for the next Range Rover Sport.
Either way, Land Rover executives recently said that the design of the next Range Rover series will be influenced by the Evoque adding that both the windscreen and the rear window will have a steeper angle, while keeping the classic floating roof...
