It's not much of a secret that Kia -- owned by parent Hyundai -- has been onto something with its vehicles over the past 24 months. Not only have they been selling at a good rate, the products have designs that are starting to catch eyes.

Maybe its because they are relatively European-inspired after Kia inherited one of Audi's designers. Well play, Kia. Well played.

The interesting thing about these newly "leaked" concept photos is that the new vehicle is a rear-wheel drive V8-powered car. According to reports it will likely be based on Hyundai's Genesis sedan, which makes a lot of sense.

Here's where things start to become clearer: has Hyundai set up its strategy so Hyundai targets luxury car buyers from Lexus and Mercedes-Benz with the Equus/Genesis, and Kia will eventually be the brand to steal sales from Audi and BMW?

Leaked pictures have emerged of the Kia concept car that will be unveiled at next week's Frankfurt motor show.

The dramatic rear-drive saloon, which the unofficial images suggest will be named the GT, will be the first in a series of new concepts that Kia will use to explore new market segments and prove its capabilities of building style-led models above its current range of traditional hatchbacks, saloons and crossovers.

Official details of the four-door concept are scarce, and Kia hasn't officially released any fresh information or images, but Autocar understands it be based on sister firm Hyundai’s Genesis saloon, with a powerful V8 petrol engine featuring under the bonnet...
