For one Columbian drug lord, things just became a bit more embarrassing. Not only was his entire operation smashed in 2004, but in 2007 he was extradited to the good 'ol U-S-of-A where he is currently located.

Having had his assets seized, it would be normal to assume that the Columbian government would auction the goods, right? Well, that would be normal operating procedure.

According to reports, the government isn't able to sell the car because there are no buyers. 1) They fear of retaliation if they purchase the low mileage Ferrari, 2) Officials fear that if they sell the vehicle on the cheap they will catch flack for selling the state short.

Since it seemed to be a lose-lose situation, officials decided to turn it into a win.

So, they painted it the color of the national police and will be taking it on a countrywide tour. After that's complete, the Ferrari will find a new home in a police museum.


The Columbian police has proudly unveiled their latest police car: a Ferrari 348 TS that no one wanted to buy. Or better said, a car that no one dared to buy.

The 1991 Ferrari 348 TS was owned by drugs lord Luis Hernando Gómez Bustamante. In 2004, Colombian police conducted raids against Gómez Bustamante, stripping him of 68 farms, 24 offices and 17 parking lots as well as other items and properties, a total worth listed at over 100 million. Among the seized assets was his Ferrari. Bustamante was transported for extradition to the United States on charges of money laundering, drug smuggling and much more in 2007...
