Toyota Motor Corp Asias biggest carmaker, raised its global sales forecast because of Japanese government incentives on fuel-efficient vehicles and demand for its new gas-electric Prius compact.

Sales, excluding those of subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co. (7262) and Hino Motors Ltd. (7205), will climb 21 percent to 8.58 million vehicles this year, the Toyota City-based carmaker said in a statement today. That’s 100,000 units more than the company’s projection last month.
