Well, a lot actually.
Jason Harper who pens for Bloomberg recently reviewed the Lexus GS350 F-Sport and had some intriguing insights about the car. He also had some stories to tell from his Lexus experience.
A couple of my personal favorite are competing with a Ford Mustang GT at a stop light and beating a BMW M3 coming out of a turn. Aside from the possible exaggeration or coincidence that both drivers were terrible, what Harper writes about the GS is actually important.
1) The vehicle now has an attitude and stands out amongst the crowd.
2) It is priced competitively when compared to a similarly equipped BMW 5-Series.
3) The interior has nice attention to detail.
4) It's not likely to STEAL away ALL 5-Series buyers; however, it is compelling enough for those consumers who appreciate comfort with a bit of panache.
When you consider the route of the new BMW 5-Series though, you have to think for a second. That MIGHT just be enough to get the Lexus GS some sales.
In the New York tri-state, the new GS is starting to get spotted just about everywhere. Very impressive signs for an all-new car.
Sneak attack! My Lexus GS350 F Sport sedan is nose to nose with a Mustang GT at a stoplight. The road before us scrolls up a mountain pass. The Ford driver guns it.
Halfway up the hill the driver glances over and finds me right next to him. I actually see his brow furrow. A bit later something similar happens when I beat a BMW M3 out of a deep C-shaped turn.
Sure, I've got something to prove. In most circumstances the GS350 with all-wheel-drive is not going to thump a M3. (Like I said, sneak attack.) But if the flesh is willing, so is this Lexus...
