Some may say my headline is an overstatement but if you take a good, hard look at this 1971 Audi 60L, you too will be a believer.

Until I ran across this post I wasn't even familiar with the Audi 60 L. Given that Audi was jump started in 1965, by 1971 there must not have been much love for cars like the 60. And, frankly, it could be pretty easily confused with the likes of a Lada. Just squint a little, you'll see what I am talking about.

Clearly though, one man had a vision that must have been unshakable to come to this result. Simply put, this is likely one of the coolest Audi's I have ever seen. Yes, that includes the R8.

According to the rough translation via Google, this 60 L has been upgraded extensively -- no kidding. Its engine is actually from a 1990 Audi 80. Look at how wildly clean its engine bay is!

Obviously the vehicle is sitting on a coilover set up with an awesome set of 16-inch Schmidt wheels.

Its interior has been completely overhauled for a sand beige and pastel blue Alcantara look. Note a modern touch: Diamond-patterned stitching.

Finally, it has a modern sound system with a couple of subwoofers in the back so there's plenty of bump.

All in, it took the owner of this very special Audi 60 L about two years from start to finish. Though I can't imagine investing that much time, my God it is something completely unique and special that no other Audi can compete with.
