Now in our days we've heard some wacky ideas, but this one is one of the tops.

Lazzarini -- that CAN'T be Italian, right? -- design has come up with a concept that is clearly like none other. It has decided to do the unthinkable. Remove a Ferrari 458 Italia's 4.5-liter V8 motor and put it into a Fiat 500. That bears repeating: Yes, a Fiat 500.

Though the company has slightly detuned the powerplant to 550 horsepower, we're pretty sure that won't matter much considering the target weight has been said to be 2,200 pounds.

The price? Apparently it's $1,000 per horsepower as Lazzarini is looking for someone with $550 large to step up to the plate.

All things considered, is this an AWESOME idea or is it simply SILLY?

...Lazzarini Design came up with the concept, and the company says it's waiting for an investor with $550,000 burning a hole in his or her pocket to give building one a shot...

...The boys at Lazzarini aren't totally crazy: They would detune the engine from 570 hp to a much more reasonable 550 hp. The engine would sit in the proper spot—the rear—behind what looks to be a cleverly engineered roll cage. Tires on the provided photochops look like moon covers. We'd like to see something with some Italian flair...
