GM fired the global marketing chief Joel Ewanick, after only two years with the company.

“It has been a privilege & honor to work with the GM Team and to be a small part of Detroit’s turnaround,” Ewanick said on Twitter. “I wish everyone at GM all the best.”

In May GM announced it has signed a 5-year deal as Manchester United sponsor. The company said Saturday, July 28th, that Ewanick’s departure was effective immediately and that Alan Batey, the head of U.S. sales and service, will take his position.
