The CEO of upstart automaker Fisker Automotive says its luxury plug-in hybrid Karma is the fourth-best selling vehicle in its class this year.

Tony Posawatz, who is the third CEO this year for the California-based company, said Fisker trails only the Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf when it comes to plug-in hybrids, though it trails those vehicles by substantial margins.

The Karma is a $103,000 luxury plug-in that gets 54 miles per gallon equivalent.

Fisker does not report monthly sales totals, but Posawatz said the company has sold more than 1,000 vehicles so far this year. General Motors Co. has sold 13,497 Volts this year through August, most among plug-in hybrids.
