I would argue that Porsche is one of the automotive industry's most storied and cherished brands of all time. And, it's clear that business still remains strong for the German automaker known for its sporty lineup. 2012 was Porsche's best year from a sales perspective with over 140,000 units sold.

When compared year-over-year with 2011, that's a jump of more than 22 percent.

Looking at the figures, this is the order of vehicles that sold (ranked by units moved):

1) Cayenne
2) Panamera
3) 911
4) Boxster/Cayman

So, now what? Where does the legendary marque go from here?

Since the auto biz is cyclical and manufacturers have to strike while the iron's hot, to me it seems that Porsche's next move should be the Macan. Get that bad boy to market so it can make an impression on the ever increasing entry-level premium sport-utility vehicle market.

What say you? If you were a member of Porsche's management, what would YOU do next?
