One of my favorite things about following the automotive business is not only watching the ongoing development of the amazing products but also seeing and hearing about the biz's shenanigans. Honestly, there are so many things that just make you sit back and shake your head. The latest to make me say "WTF?" was a recent interview a well-known journalist did for Forbes. She was speaking to Giles Taylor, who is Rolls-Royce's design director. Not a bad gig if I do say so myself. Props for creating the coolest looking door panel on the planet, Giles! (If you haven't seen the wood veneer on the Wraith, see below.)Long story short, in the story she published her first question is an attack on American cars and — according her — how they don't look cool. What about the all-new Ford Fusion? Focus ST? Chevrolet Camaro Z/28? Cadillac Ciel Concept? Chrysler 300?Whether she was trying to trick Taylor into making a slip or simply asking a dumb question is beyond me. What is relevant though is what YOU think about this:Does the U.S. automakers make cool looking cars or does this journo need a new pair of eyeballs? Hannah Elliott: I have seen very few cars in recent decades come from the United States that are competitive on design with cars from Europe and Asia. Why do you think that is? Is it lack of money? Is it lack of brain power? Basically I’m asking why can’t the United States make cars that look cool?AutoSpies.com is ranked #1 on Google for auto show photos!2013 New York Auto Show Photo Gallery Read Article
