Given the nature of China's emerging economy, I would say that it is a critical growth market for Rolls-Royce Motors going forward. Not to mention its product is thoroughly adored there.

Clearly Rolls gets it too and that's why it makes a point to debut interesting products at the Shanghai Motor Show.

This year it unveiled a special edition Ghost, the Alpine Trial Centenary.

Celebrating 100 years since its participation in the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials — a punishing, 1,820-mile endurance race — the marque is reflecting upon the Silver Ghost's completion of the exhaustive journey without any issues. This remarkable feat earned Roller the "Best Car in the World" title.

The special modificantions are pretty noticeable on the exterior with the bright blue paint, black front grille and black wheels; however, the real cool details are found in the cabin. Note the detail along the wood work that shows the race's topography and increments. As a data fiend, I think that detail alone is probably the coolest integration of a special model. BUT for you timepiece fiends, you'll probably notice the dashboard clock that displays the different stages of the race.

That said, is this a bit too gimmicky for YOUR taste? Is the Rolls-Royce Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary AWESOME or AWFUL?
