The all-new Volkswagen Golf has finally come. Dubbed the MKVII, it is the seventh generation of a vehicle that many dub one of the best on the planet. There's good reason for this and — believe you me — I know as I own one.

They're cheap to maintain AND modify, Golfs have plenty of utility, the interior is spacious and, to top it off, they're pretty fuel efficient. Take, for example, my 2.5 that gets 33-34 mpg on a 40-mile roundtrip commute.

There is one problem though. They're pretty dull unless you spice them up. I should know as I put quite a few dollars into my VW.

Volkswagen is going to try to stanch the bleeding though. While I can't be sure if it will make its way stateside, VW is launching the R-Line package in Europe. It's all show no go but sometimes that makes all the difference in the likability of a product. Take a look at how many E9x BMW 3-Series were sold with the M Sport kit. This is the same thing.

But is this move by VW a bit too POSER or is this the PERFECT ingredient that was lacking in the mix? What say you?

Volkswagen's press release follows:
