Yesterday we posted images via a publication abroad that gave us the very first proper impression of the upcoming Jaguar sport-utility vehicle. It's clear the mule is in the very early stages of development, looking essentially like a jacked-up XF.
Today though there are some breaking developments. Namely that Jaguar has went out and posted a press release and a teaser image of the all-new SUV concept.
Though the image is quite dark and shadowy — wouldn't want to give anything away now would we — it's clear that the concept will feature some curves and a shape that's similar to the Porsche Macan. It's not as BMW X4 as we thought from the spy photos of the development mule.
One interesting design detail: Check out the F-Type inspired wraparound taillights. Seems like the F will make a lasting impression with Jaguar's compact SUV.
Jaguar's press release follows:
JAGUAR TO UNVEIL C-X17 CONCEPT STUDY AND INTRODUCE NEW ADVANCED VEHICLE ARCHITECTURE AT FRANKFURT SHOW
(WHITLEY, UK) – The C-X17 has been created as a design study to introduce Jaguar's new, highly-advanced, modular aluminum architecture.
The concept illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand.
Jaguar will also display its newly introduced production models at the Frankfurt Motor Show. These will include the recently launched 'R' performance models – the XJR and XFR-S – as well as the highly-acclaimed F-TYPE.
