Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday it is recalling 694,000 Sienna minivans in North America to prevent them from rolling away.

The Japanese automaker said the recall covers 2004-2005 and 2007-2009 minivans to address problems with the shift lever assembly. Toyota said there is a possibility that the shift lever could be moved out of the park position without the driver depressing the brake pedal. “This could result in a vehicle rollaway,” the company said.
