Although the all-new Subaru WRX is slated to appear at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show this week, Subaru is said to be holding onto its hotter pepper, the WRX STI until the Detroit Auto Show in January.
Though we cannot determine how accurate this information is, word on the street is suggesting that the WRX and WRX STI will be sporting different four-door bodyshells from the standard Impreza sedan. This wasn't always the case and marks a departure. In addition, a new advancement is what's being called an "Axle Forward Layout" chassis.
What this means, I have no clue. Just that it's supposed to help the WRX and WRX STI better handling, balance and stability.
Aside from that, look for the STI to be a bit more powerful than the standard WRX and to be set off with more aggressive bodywork, larger brakes and a fancy set of wheels.
