As noted in the previous thread, I am pretty stoked about the all-new season of "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee." What can I say, I like Jerry Seinfeld.

I also like good interviews.

Now, the reason for the follow-up thread is because if you recall in season two there were some pretty awful product placements. In fact, they were so bad that Seinfeld himself actually called Acura out on it. Whether or not that was his plan is beyond us but either way we can't imagine Acura being too happy about it.

So, for season three Acura's ad folks worked hand-in-hand with Seinfeld and director Barry Sonnenfeld to create some spoofs of 1960s advertisements. Having been watching my fair share of Mad Men, I can appreciate this pseudo time warp.

That said, take a peek at the eight spots below...

Acura Debuts New Spots Custom-Made for Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee

Written by Seinfeld and Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, the New Spots Comedically Reinforce Acura's Exclusive Sponsorship of the Acclaimed Web Series

Acura in partnership with comedian Jerry Seinfeld and director Barry Sonnenfeld has created a new series of comedic commercials that will debut on Season 3 of Seinfeld's original and Emmy-nominated web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The eight spots are written and stylized in a retro 1960s style as a spoof of old-time advertising. They are a new element in Acura's exclusive sponsorship of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, a show where Seinfeld picks up other famous comedians in vintage automobiles and takes them out for coffee and funny, intimate conversations. The spots will debut as Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Season 3 premieres on the web on January 2, 2014.

Seinfeld starred on camera in Acura's 2012 Super Bowl commercial, but in this new arrangement his role was behind the camera, as writer and creative collaborator. With Sonnenfeld and Acura's ad agency Mullen, the team has created a campaign that shows Acura's sense of humor, while touting the many luxury features of new models, including the 2014 MDX three-row luxury SUV and RLX performance sedan. In one spot called Picnic, a family of five packs "90 cubic feet of potato salad" into the cargo area of the 2014 MDX. The dad character boasts – "Man that Acura's spacious trunk seems about made for potato salad." In another called Astro, a group of four astronauts drive together in the MDX to their lift-off and back home after their return to Earth. There's enough cargo room in the back of the MDX to store all of their space rocks and an alien figure they brought back from the trip. The voice-over on the spot says the MDX is the SUV for "when space isn't even enough space." In a spot called Love, a happy young couple is seen floating in the clouds while driving the RLX, which "makes you fall in love like you're floating on balloons." The voice-over says the RLX is "Impressive, aggressive and has a cloud-like ride."

"My idea for 'Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee' was to show this certain aspect of the stand-up comedy world in a way that comedy fans would enjoy experiencing as if they were there," said Jerry Seinfeld. "There is absolutely no doubt that without Acura's support I would not have been able to continue beyond the initial experiment. And now Acura has enabled me to extend the concept by creating ads that fit the comedy tone of the show. I can't think of a similar situation ever occurring anywhere and I am enormously grateful to Mike Accavitti for his vision and confidence in us. This could not be more fun."

"Jerry is a comedic genius. His creativity and dedication to excellence made these new spots the gems that they are," said Mike Accavitti, Senior Vice President, American Honda Motor, Co. "We seek to continually innovate our marketing at Acura. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and these fun ads perfectly align to our independent thinking, car enthusiast target customers".
