Sales of Ford brand vehicles fell 11.6 percent in August 2006 compared to the same month last year, the automaker announced today. Lincoln sales fell 9.5 percent, and Mercury deliveries were down 12.7 percent. Sales of Ford's new mid-size sedans (Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan, and Lincoln Zephyr) were up 13 percent compared to last month (July 2006) for a total of 22,863. Notably, sales of the Ford Five Hundred fell 51.4 percent and Freestyle sales dropped 42.6 percent. Meanwhile, Mustang sales were up 64.2 percent and GT sales were up 26.5 percent. Jaguar sales fell 35.3 percent overall, with all models dropping about 45 percent, except for the new XK, which was up 106.8 percent. Land Rover sales dropped 19.4 percent, with similar declines across the model lineup. Volvo sales were down just 2.1 percent — with the C70 up an incredible 1,314 percent. The S60 and XC90 posted 16 percent gains. Mazda sales were mostly flat.
