For me it's been unbelievable watching the supercar race in the past five to 10 years. Manufacturers have come and went, and the competition is getting even more fierce. Who knew it would turn into such a dog fight?

Everyone is playing in this game from some different angle. It's remarkable.

Hell, I don't know about you guys and dolls but when someone asks me what supercar would I want for six figures, my head nearly explodes from all of the options. And it's going to grow from one more niche player. That would be McLaren.

The British company known mostly for its Formula One racing heritage as well as its supercars like the F1 and P1 is preparing an entry-level assault. We're talking about a car set to go toe-to-toe with the likes of other $100,000 sports car entrants. THINK: Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Porsche 911, Jaguar F-Type R, Audi R8, et al.

Thing is this though. Having just been behind the wheel of the McLaren 650S Spider in Los Angeles I can tell you that if McLaren keeps on track, the Sport Series is going to definitely be unlike anything else on the road. While a McLaren 650S may feel similar to other cars — like the 458 Italia or Gallardo — there's much more to its driving experience that is purse and focused. It was an eye opening experience and a thrill.

I am betting McLaren's will apply the same formula here but obviously tweak it just a hair.

As you can see below in some of our screen grabs, it will follow the design language of the 650S and P1. Expect a wedge-shaped, mid-engine sports car with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V8. Although this is my pure speculation, I think its ride will be the most friendly out of the company's lineup — the 650S was a bit raw, in my opinion.

That said, scope out the teaser clip below and gear up for an exciting New York City debut.

You wont find the McLaren Sports Series at the Geneva Motor Show but there's less than a month to go until its debut at the New York International Auto Show. We'll bring you coverage from New York, in the meantime, here's your first look at the Sports Series in action.
