Although I think the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 makes a pretty strong case for itself as a new car purchase, some folks need a bit more convincing. Even if buyers don't need their arm twisted, some car geeks really enjoy the special edition models.

And given the Corvette Racing team's history, it seems that it was the perfect opportunity for Chevrolet to make it a win-win situation for everyone. Perhaps that's why the C7.R special edition exists.

While the C7.R edition packs in a lot of special trimming and design features, it doesn't have any mechanical advantages over the standard Z06. If you missed the boat, Spies, fear not. You can order the Z07 performance package on a standard Z06 and it will perform just as well as the special edition.

What this vehicle really boils down to is a paint and trim package. Rather than sit in the dark with only ONE picture, the Chevy PR machine released a few more pictures to bring us up to speed.
