While vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class — soon to be renamed GLS-Class — and the Land Rover Rnage Rover continue to sell like hot cakes, it seems that some automakers are late to the party. One such example is BMW, who was thought to have prepared the much rumored about X7 for deliveries around this time.

Although the X5 has been a successful, high volume product for years now, BMW's plans for a large luxury SUV seem to have gotten pushed back. In an interview, BMW NA's CEO, Ludwig Willisch, notes its at least two years out as it will roll out with the next-generation of light trucks from BMW.

And, making news last week, were comments from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) Sergio Marchionne. According to Bloomberg, he said that every time he sees a Land Rover Range Rover his blood boils because Jeep should be able to produce something like that.

Duh, this is why we've been asking why the Grand Wagoneer hasn't been revived. Well, according to reports, the vehicle is on its way but we will be kept waiting until 2018.

That being said, we're just a wee bit curious: WHO do YOU think is missing out on the HUGE luxury SUV trend more? BMW or Jeep?


BMW's U.S. dealers won't get all of the 15 new products being rolled out globally by 2018.

But that's fine with BMW of North America CEO Ludwig Willisch, who is focused on the hot-selling crossover segment. The X7, a full-size crossover coming in three years, is what the U.S. market needs, he said.
