Well this would surely tick off more than a few dyed-in-the-wool veterans of the General Motors versus Ford wars–Automotive News is reporting that GM and Ford began discussing a possible alliance or merger back in July.
According to the industry publication, the negotiations started shortly after the possibility of a Nissan/Renault tie-up was floated for GM.
Talks are not currently ongoing, and the General continues to study the possibility of an agreement with Carlos Ghosn’s crew, so most pundits guess is that the ‘SuperMerger’ talks won’t result in much. Still, word that the two have even broached the matter is sure to get the nation’s tongues wagging.
