For years now people have been waiting for an S-Class Convertible. Although it seems many were hoping for a four-door variant as was seen with the Ocean Drive Concept, the reality is that Mercedes-Benz is playing games with semantics.

With the CL's nomenclature switching to S-Class Coupe, now we will see an S-Class Convertible.

In the latest series of spy photographs, it's pretty much as one would expect. It's an S Coupe with a rag top. That means the lines remain long, sweeping and elegant, and passengers will benefit from the high-tech opulence that makes the all-new S-Class the benchmark.

Given that the vehicle was recently seen lapping the Nürburgring wearing basically zippo except some minor wrapping on its ass end, we're thinking it's safe to say this vehicle will bow at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).

I wonder if Bentley is concerned or could care less...
