Although the Jaguar F-Type SVR made its global debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show (GIMS) our friends at Jaguar Land Rover decided to have it make its US splash right here in New York City. The leaping cat's F-Type has been a rather tasty little treat since I've driven it several times and I have to say that this latest variant is sounding better every time I hear more about it.

To fill you in on the details Jaguar wants YOU to know, we attended the pre-show media briefing where the company's executives walked us through what makes the F-Type SVR that much more improved over the F-Type R.

As you'd expect in any hyped up sports car, it does all of the "right" things: The F-Type SVR gets a stiffer suspension, loses weight — over 100 pounds — and gets a bump in power. That's not all though, there's some trick little details that will have obsessives falling in love.

One such detail is the titanium exhaust that sheds 30 plus pounds over the standard unit. Not only is it light but it also provides some more aural entertainment — as if the F-Type R didn't have a crazy enough exhaust. Another is the SVR's improved aerodynamics that reduce lift and drag. Thanks to an adjustable carbon fiber rear spoiler, this F-Type is more planted when attempting to hit that 200 mph mark.
