Own Shelby GT500, but your neighbor just ponied up for an end-of-run GT, and you’re feeling a bit skittish about your street cred? Allow us to show you something in a Roushcharger.
The folks over at Roush Performance have just announced a series of kits that will supercharge your car with up to 700 horsepower. The company will offer three different GT500 kits, starting with a “Cold Air Kit” that gains 45 horsepower. The middle rung on the ladder is the 2.3-liter blower, which adds a stout 120 horsepower and 88 pound-feet of torque. A 3-year/36,000 mile warranty is also included.
If you can live without the safety-net of a warranty and promise not to drive the car on public roads (*wink-wink, nudge-nudge*) they’ll furnish you with a Roushcharger that will give you up to 700 horsepower. Those going whole-hog will have to purchase a pulley separately, as well as have their new setup calibrated.
No promises that your newly-fortified GT500 will spank the aformentioned retrosexual GT, but the horsepower bump ought to make things interesting.
Prices and on-sale dates haven’t been announced for the new kits, but they’re expected to make it to market in time to be one hell of a stocking stuffer.
