These are the finalists in each category, all of which fought some impressive adversaries in order to secure their spot in the grand finale. Therefore, the 2026 World Car of the Year now sees the BMW iX3, the Hyundai Palisade, and the Nissan Leaf battling it out for the top spot.
In the World Luxury Car category, we find the Cadillac Vistiq, the Lucid Gravity, and the Volvo ES90. The World Electric Vehicle category sees the BMW iX3, the Mercedes-Benz CLA, and the Nissan Leaf fighting to secure the top spot. The BMW M2 CS, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray, and the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N are fighting for the gold medal in the World Performance Car category.
The Chevrolet Spark EUV / Baojun Yep Plus, the Firefly, and the Hyundai Venue are the finalists in the World Urban Car of the Year category. The final one is called the World Car Design of the Year, and comprises the Kia PV5, the Mazda 6e / EZ-6, and the Volvo ES90.
