The Bankruptcy Court in New York has received a request from the Chrysler Group, which wants the court to pre-empt new state laws that seek to make it easier for rejected dealerships to win reinstatement.

Chrysler stated that the new laws in four states (Illinois, North Carolina, Oregon and Maine) will disrupt the carmaker’s business prospects by forcing it to work with mostly “poor-performing dealers.” Chrysler also alleges that these laws have the effect of impeding the formation of a Genesis network of showrooms with Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge operations in one establishment.
